In 2008, Armenian jazz was celebrating its 70th anniversary and in light of the fact that jazz has always enjoyed great love in Armenia with a great many loyal fans, there was a state decision to celebrate this anniversary "on a grand scale".

2008 was declared the Year of Jazz, and within the framework of the celebrations, a great number of events were held in Armenia, including exhibitions, fashion shows and concerts featuring world-famous jazz artists Tatevik Hovhannisyan, Nino Katamadze, Georgi Garanyan, Al Jarreau, J. Benson and others.

All the events held under the scope of the celebration were organized with the support of the RA Ministry of Culture and under the patronage of the President of Armenia.

The project was implemented by the "Armenian Jazz 70" organizing committee headed by Levon Malkhasyan and comprised of Konstantin Orbelian, Martin Vardazaryan, Yervand Yerznkyan, Armen Tutunjyan, Armen Martirosyan, Raffi Zakharyan, Ruben Jaghinyan and Artem Ayvazyan.      

Awards: Special prize at National Music Award in the nomination "The Best Project of the Year" (2008).
